Sites to Help You Learn and Practice English
Using paperback dictionaries |
As we learn English language, we are faced by hard or new vocabulary, need to paraphrase a sentence (rewrite it in different words), write some examples on certain vocabulary, search for synonyms, etc. That said, let's get to know some useful sites to help you advance in learning and maybe do your homework.
1- Youglish
Youglish comes on top of the list for it's amazing tools and options for not just listening, but many other things.
- You first choose the language and you will get the accents options. If English, you get All accents, US, UK, AUS, and when you click the arrow, you will get more accents options. Same is for other languages.
- Ex. You typed the word "action", and chose US accent. Under the videos, you will get some options, the most important of them all as shown in the picture are: 1- Translate arrow ( click on it, you get options for translators like google, Bing ..). 2- the three dots (click on them, you get all the spoken words in the video. And, you can click on any word of them and get a full information on it, like word class, definition, examples, and translation)
- After these options, you get other tools for the word. I will let you explore them yourself.

- You can replay the video, choose to show or hide subtitles (hiding subtitles gives you more points), choose the sentence that you heard in the video OR the meaning of the sentence (the faster you choose, the higher points you get).
-If you answered a video incorrectly, you can add it to playlist and answer it again later.
- You can join my observation group on Voscreen "English Club" to join the competition with other members. Let me know in the comments if you are interested.
